A/N: For Mari, who wanted anything “fluffy or sexy in college” when I was in a percabeth writing mood. So here’s basically every college cliche I could fit in a fic. AU and nsfw at the end.
Percy first sees the pretty blonde on move in day.
She’s all long legs and summer skin and big honey curls and damn.
His eyes are stuck on her as she makes her way across the lobby, a box overflowing with books in her arms, then she’s disappeared into the elevator and Percy doesn’t realize he’s just staring at the set of closed doors until his mom nudges him.
“Oh, sorry.”
He pushes onward with the dolly of boxes and pointedly ignores the knowing grins his step-father and his mother share behind his back.
Later, when all of his things are loaded into his dorm and Paul has taken Estelle back to the car, his mom slips something into his hand. He recognizes the shiny wrapping immediately.
“Mom.”
Her smile only gets wider. “I just want you to be safe, sweetie. I’m also not quite ready to be a grandmother just yet.”
His face is burning. From across the room, his roommate, Grover, starts laughing.
Cinderella “plot holes” I am tired of hearing about
“Why didn’t her step family recognize her?” Because royal balls were basically the candle lit equivalent of clubbing in terms of both lighting and sheer numbers. Even if they were right next to her, they probably wouldn’t get a good look, especially since it would have started after sundown. Also, she was the help; they probably hadn’t looked at her in years.
“Looking for someone based on their shoe size is stupid!” See above.
“Was he going to have every size seven in the kingdom try the slipper on?” Prior to industrialization most garments were made by hand to fit the buyer’s measurements, including shoes. It’s why poor people only had one pair. It’s a lot smarter when you consider that they would’ve fit her like a glove.
“You can’t run down stairs in heels!” I know this is a misconception resulting from historical revisionism and disneyfication, but high heels were not originally women’s shoes. They were worn by men. Women wore slippers, which were basically ballet flats. So it’s debatable.
“Glass shoes don’t make any sense!” Okay first of all, it’s called the suspension of disbelief, and secondly, they’re gold in every other version but Perrault decided to change them to something else expensive.
“She just went to the ball to find a man!” I know this isn’t a plot hole but listen. As the daughter of a widower Cinderella would’ve been running the household finances and acting as hostess if he hadn’t remarried. By demoting Cinderella to a servant, her step-mother essentially guaranteed that she would never escape the house, because the only way for her to escape and maintain her status was to marry well, and no one was going to marry a servant. It was essentially the historical equivalent of your mom stealing your college acceptance letters out of the mailbox.
this was not an analysis i was prepared for, i’ll tell you that
“me… husband” I say nervously as I accidentally knock out the marriage officiant and somehow eat the ring
It’s time to toss the bouquet, everyone roll initiative.
i just want to make it absolutely clear that i am at OP and and first commenters wedding right this second and this post is literally all i can think about
Also, I’m in Europe and ngl, had no idea this was even an article up for debate let alone it being fucking passed.
Don’t panic! This was expected at this stage and it is only the beginning. If you are a European and feel passionate about this, please keep on reading and help!
So what has happened so far … the Commission has drafted up a long overdue copyright reform. https://eur-lex.europa.eu/procedure/EN/2016_280 It contains a lot of good, and some bad: mainly Article 11 and 13.
This was put forward as a whole to the European Parlament, where it was voted down on the 5th of July 2018
This meant, this will not go through the fast way, and will be subject to scrutiny and change.
The Commission made some alterations https://eur-lex.europa.eu/procedure/EN/2016_280 and put it forward again. If Parlament would have voted it down again, it probably would have meant back to the drawing board, but most people (including me) agree that Europe does need copyright reform, so on the second vote it passed the first step:
So what happens now?
This will now go into what is called the Trilogue, where Commission, Parlament and representatives of all national governments will sit together to make alterations until everybody is happy implementing the regulation.
This means we can now influence this via our MEPs and our National Government!
In countries that are red your government is likely to support Article 13.
What to do now?
There are a lot of organisations that organise actions against article 13. Check out their websites and get in touch with your MEP or local government and let them know you are unhappy about this.
… and many many more, just google to find one in your country.
Also, as @asthesea-breezehitsmylungs pointed out, a lot of people are not aware of this going on. So make them aware! Share the memes and point them to the petitions. And don’t just complain how shit this is, get in touch with your politicians!
i havent shaved my legs in a really long time and while i was babysitting my skirt edged up a bit and the seven year old i was watching said “ew you should shave that hairs not supposed to be there” and i said “well if its not supposed to be there then why does it grow there?” and he was really silent for a long time and then finally said “lets watch sonic the hedgehog”
tumors grow, are they supposed to be there?
its called “evolution”, just because its there doesnt mean its useful or wanted.
Local Man Compares Leg Hair To Cancer, Genuinely Thought It Was A Smart Argument.
